Camellias Tea Rooms
Situated directly opposite the heritage gardens of the historic 12th century St. Alkmund’s Church, Camellias Tea Rooms have become recognised as amongst the most renowned and successful tea rooms in Shrewsbury. Following an investment of £225,000 Camellias has formed a reputation within the locality and beyond for providing a wonderful environment in which to relax, recharge and rejuvinate from the typical stresses of everyday life.
Camellias Tea Rooms has a certain opulence with its oak panelling, chandeliers, black granite tables, solid oak floor and contemporary designer cloakrooms with Penhaligons of London toiletries. Original pictures of Shrewsbury from the famed photographer Mike Browlaski adorn the walls with music from the Roland grand piano creating a hospitable and calm retreat in which to socialise and meet family and friends.
The extensive menu offers a wide selection of fresh cakes, pastries, paninis, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and baguettes. There is also a variety of hot and cold drinks including high quality fairtrade ground coffee and loose tea. The hot chocolate has become a real favourite with its ample topping of fresh cream, marshmallows and maltesers.
The specialist Suki Teas are served in a Japanese tea pot on an individual bamboo tray and include connoisseur blends such as Red Berry, Green Tea with Ginseng, Fairtrade Darjeeling, Organic Rooibos, Apple Loves Mint and Mango Tango. A real treat is afternoon tea offering finger sandwiches, a selection of cakes and home baked scones with clotted cream served on a three tier cake stand.
With glorious views through the Georgian windows onto St. Alkmund’s Square and the Tudor Bear Steps, Camellias offers a truly sumptuous setting in which to unwind. Indeed, for many of our customers Camellias Tea Rooms is a reason for just visiting Shrewsbury.
